Kumiko's pigeon pair

This is mum - our 'Kumiko'. She is a tri-colour sheba coated girl who comes from peruvian origins. These photos were taken when she was only 3 months old.

And this is daddy pig - our Lilac, White and Cream sheba -coated boy.

And this is what you get when you mix Kumiko with Malakai... two very different, very beautiful sheba-coated bubs! Born on the evening of Monday the 16th July.

Farrah is a mini-mum in her gorgeous bright tri-colour coat. She weighed in at 95g.

And this is Finley, our little gold and white man. He has the most beautiful ruby eyes, and weighed in at 110g.

Eirwyn's trio of cuteness!

This was little Eirwyn the day she arrived here at our Caviary at approx 4 weeks old. All crinkly white curls.

She arrived with her mum Giselle though... and over the weeks it became apparent that Giselle HATED Eirwyn with an intense passion, and would corner her in the cage and systematically pull chunks of her coat out and chew it up like spaghetti. (I actually got this behaviour on video... I should try and find the file...)

So this is what Eirwyn looked like all grown up. Her gorgeous curls were never given a chance to grow nice and long like a texel's should. This didn't stop her from catching the eye of a certain romantic old man though, and soon Eirwyn was expecting her first litter to Tex.

It felt like we were waiting forever for this litter, but late on the 9th of July 2012 in the midst of a rain storm Eirwyn delivered three gorgeous bubs.

This is Sirocco Clove - a very rich golden agouti pedigree texel sow who weighed in at 100g.

This little honey is 'Sirocco Colton' the only boy in this litter. He has the most gorgeous big boofy face with a mostly white body and a splotch of lemon agouti across his face. He weighed in at 100g as well.

And last, by no means least - this is Sirocco Cora (now known as 'Ashanti', named by her new family). She is also lemon agouti and white and weighed in at 110g.

Sirocco Wellington Updates

This Spunky man is 'Sirocco Wellington', one of our pedigree texel boys born to Sirocco Nixie and Glenjolie Liam back in May. He was 8 weeks old in this photo, and is 10 weeks old in the photo below taken by his new mum.

I just can't stop smiling - how cute is that little face!!!

Piggy Beds and Cuddle Sacks

We recently created some new piggy bedding products to add to our 'Cuddle Sack' range for sale on the Sirocco Cavy Stud facebook page

We were having fortnightly market nights for a while there as winter was approaching here in Australia, but we've been otherwise occupied with sewing/creating creatures for an online teddy bear show happening this weekend, and didn't get a chance to make anything new for the pigs.

We actually got down to our last half-dozen cuddle sacks too (from a total of 90+ items in our last June market night!). That felt like stock levels were WAY too low for me!

So these are the new items:

We made some padded beds for the first time. A really simple fleece design, stuffed with eco friendly fibre fill made from recycled PET plastic (taken from recycling water bottles). It has the same feel as regular fibre fill, but being 100% synthetic means that it dries quickly and maintains it's bounce/softness.

We originally only had the beds in 'Tiger-Print' (which is now sold out), but currently have a few new designs. You'll just have to disregard the 'available' amounts, as this has dropped considerably. Check out our Cuddle Sacks Album on our facebook page for the current availability of each design.

The pink/lime reversible beds are my favourite design in the fleece. These are slightly bigger and would fit two pigs (if you had two happy to share).

I had a brilliant idea to experiment with some of our faux fur fabric from our bear supply business as well - and it works a treat! This stuff is low-pile, 100% synthetic (non absorbent, so moisture/urine will wick away), and SUPER silky to the touch!

And just today we've whipped up some of the pink faux fur beds with a lavender purple fleece lining/base. These two colours looks great together, and we have a limited run of about a dozen of these available

I'm loving little Tao modeling these more 'manly' bed.

And of course there are the cuddle sacks. My pigs LOVE them! We have a whole heap that we use on rotation so that when one lot are being cleaned/drying, we have fresh ones at the ready.

We can also offer the chunky metal holder clips as well. These work so much better than my scrap pieces of tie-wire we were using. (and that much safer for curious pigs too).

A table full of piggy cuddle sacks. And this month's batch was only half the size of the June batch. I still can't believe how many piggies are keeping warm in our sacks now. It's such a nice feeling to know that pigs other than our own love them!

If you're interested in purchasing some bedding for your pigs, most cuddle sacks and beds are $15 (some are $10), and postage is $5 for any amount of items. Just comment on the Facebook album, purchase using the paypal button on the cuddle sack page here on the blog, or send me an email at eleb2000@hotmail.com and I can let you know what we have available.

And yes, we will certainly do discounts for big orders! Most piggy lovers can't stop at one furry friend... !

Baby Updates!

Got a moment to take some updated pics of the current bubs here yesterday. This is Diamond (born to Saskia and Malakai).

(She looks so much like daddy - see below. This pic of Malakai was taken at 5weeks old too)

Cookie is looking amazing as well. She was born to Lacey and Sebastian. Her sister Coco has already left for her new home.

And my two Sheltie's from the Violet x Blaise litter are going along beautifully too. They leave for their new home this weekend.

And Bella's Bubs:

These 4 cuties are our last rex/texel x texel bubs. Born to BellaDonna and Sebastian.

'Galahad' has had a name change now too. He's going to his new home shortly and is now known as Omari. He's looking incredible and has such dense red curls! He is from our Leilani x Sebastian litter.

And lastly Mr Gideon - our little P/E white Sheltie. He's off to his new home on the weekend as well.

Indigo x Sebastian = 3 gorgeous little men!

Our lovely Indigo (pedigree texel) delivered three stunning little boys to Sebastian in the early hours of the morning on 5th July, 2012.

We've named them Tao, Tobin and Texas (in homage to their granddad Tex). You can really see Tex's colouring coming through here too. We haven't yet allocated these bubs to new homes. I'm a little bit smitten with Tao, and have been meaning to keep a boar for some time now. But we still have Eirwyn due to delivery any day now, and I don't want to make a decision until her bubs are here too. With such limited space at our caviary, we have to be soo careful about keeping a check on numbers.
(Which is hard when faced with little cuties like this...!)
