Plush Piggies

I've been working on some custom soft-sculpture plush guinea pigs this week. I think they've turned out pretty cool! There's a big fantasy rainbow pig, a baby rainbow pic and a tri-colour coronet.


This is Isla, the baby-sized rainbow piggy.


And this is her mum Genevieve.


The rainbow fur works really well for plush piggies! I might have to try and find some more!

mohair baby guinea pigs

I've been messing around with a 'baby mohair guinea pig' design this week - this is my journey in pictures!

Design attempt no. 1: (not really what I was aiming for)


Design attempt no. 2: (tried to simplify the ears, but still not quite right, eyes too big?)


Design attempt no. 3: (now not only are the eyes not right, but the ears are just weird! - too simplified now, will try adding more detail next time)


Design attempt no. 4: (added hand sculptured nose/eyelids. But the eyes look a little too sleepy, nose sticks out too far)


Design attempt no. 5: (changed the ears again, lowered the nose and pulled back the eyelids. Much better, but now the face is too narrow and rat-like!)


Design attempt no. 6: FINAL DESIGN! (Now this one I am happy with! Added whites to the eyes, and changed the head gusset slightly to fatten the face. At last!)

Plush piggies

I've been busy sewing lately! Meet my latest plush pigs! This is Mishka the tri-colour sheltie posed next to Alice. She's available from my etsy store, and $10 from her adoption fee goes directly to The Cavy Cottage guinea pig shelter (where GaGa and Yeti came from).



Here we have 'Stardust II' the silver agouti smoothcoat next to my Sparrow, also a silver agouti smooth coat. Sparrow was a little reluctant to be a model, but we got there in the end! (She kept head butting Stardust and trying to hide under him!).



And lastly, a funky pink texel plush guinea pig named 'Candy' next to little Yeti. Again, Yeti wasn't real keen on posing. She has really made herself at home in the big cage and was super keen to get back there, so I didn't hold her up any longer.



We just did some posing with the plushies instead. So much more cooperative!

Got some photos of the plush guinea pigs to share :) I've called the design 'Stardust', and am in the process of popping them on bearpile if you're interested. I also thought I'd take some photos of the plush piggys with the new little babies I adopted this morning. The babies are silver agouti too, so it shows the real version next to the plush version really nicely.
