Available baby texels

I've taken on some personal challenges this year, and am undertaking a journey that will take a lot of my energy for the next six months or so. For this reason, I've made the decision to reduce my responsibilities within the Cavy Stud as it's not fair to these little critters if I can't give them the basic care requirements they need.

We have had our last litter for 2013, and all breeding will be put on hold over the summer months.

This does mean that we have a few baby pedigree texels available for adoption though. These little guys were going to stay so I could assess coats and add them to the breeding program for 2014, but we've decided to find them new homes now while they're still young enough to be paired with new friends without the complication that comes from letting them go through puberty (especially the boys!).

Updated the 'Nursery Page'

We had another gorgeous litter born last night to Sirocco Strawberry x Sirocco Amadeus. And I realised how long it had been since I updated the Nursey Page. Its all up to date now though :)

Tiiva's babies

Not a lot to report happening around here. Today is clean out day so all the pigs are set up in a complex network of grass runs with hidey houses and blankets for shade in our backyard while I pull out all the old bedding and add the new stuff. It looks like a tent city out there!

I did however take this quick pic of Tiiva's 4 babies at 1 week old last tuesday that I totally forgot to share. They're nearly 2 weeks old now and all have nice fat little bellies. They still spend 99% of their time either sitting on top of mum, or under her, so I think they might be late weaners.

This was the first modeling shoot we did with Kobe. She looked so pretty.

We actually sold out of our first two batches of ruffle panties, so we've just finished a third batch. One of the new panties is being modeled by Kobe's daughter 'Chilli' below.

These are the available panties. There's a VERY Limited amount of each (most of them are one of a kind), so if you like one you'll need to act fast!

Sirocco Tiiva x Sirocco Amadeus - 4 babies born on the 27/8/13

This is mumma pig - our 'Sirocco Tiiva', a sweet pedigree texel sow. Daddy pig is below, our 'Sirocco Amadeus. This is the first pairing between these two.

Tiiva delivered 4 big healthy babies early in the morning of the 27/8/2013. We got three little ladies and one little boy. All staying here for now.

This is the first sow - 'Sirocco Tadita'.

This is the second sow - 'Sirocco Tender'.

This is the little boy 'Sirocco Thaddeus'. He looks SO much like his daddy Amadeus did as a newborn!

And this is little 'Sirocco Tuesday', the 3rd sow, and my pick of the litter for cuteness! Her ears are quite high-sitting at the moment though, but are large... so we'll see how they go as she grows.

We currently have seven our our pigs available for adoption to the right homes. A mix of boars, sows and a few babies. All the information on who is available, what their personalities are like and whether or not they come with pedigrees can be viewed on our 'Available' page. Violet x Amadeus - one little boar

And this is daddy - our young man 'Sirocco Amadeus' (above)

Violet and Amadeus welcomed one big (140g) baby boy into the world on the 7th August 2013.

He has the sweetest big cream face, with gold agouti and white patches over his body.

 These are his updated photos from today. He's looking so lovely and is such a big boy still. Same size as my other 2.5wk old babies!
